Back warmer against stiff back (and catching a cold)

In this blog, I try not to (and will not) write about my work in Vienna (by work, I mean the one I’m paid for). Some of my colleagues are reading this blog, I noticed (oh, I should perhaps note that I’m not writing anything about my work in Japanese either ;-). One colleague asked me how I was doing, because this person read my blog post about my having a cold in the Christmas time. Yes, I am fine. But I thought I should also write something I’m practicing in addition to this simple information. Now I’m now taking care of my back. I mean my body back literally.

In my past experience, there are many things I’ve learned. One of them is that you’d have a stiff back shortly (a couple of days) before catching a cold. There seems to be the following process to catch a cold (please note that the sequence is NOT based upon any medical evidence; it is merely my experience) :

(1) You get tired and your blood circulation does not work perfectly
(2) You feel stiff on your back
(3) Your weakened blood circulation is not only on your back, but other parts of your body. That means necessary nutrition is not distributed properly within your body
(4) Your body resistance goes down
(5) You catch a cold

So I thought, if I could do something on the process (2), my chance to catch a cold is expected to be reduced as well. Fortunately, I brought something called “Kairo” from Japan. The purpose was to warm up my body in cold Winter in Vienna (it is still cold to me outside the buildings). It’s a disposal thin object, which you stick to your cloths to warm up your body part. The place I stuck this object was my back, exactly the place where your hands can least easily get to (when you do a sort of stretching, your hands would be at this point when trying to hold your hands together on your back).

After doing that, I still haven’t caught a cold (at least yet). Apart from catching-a-cold issue, I discovered it is also good for your neck, when it gets stiff; I felt much better in that same day with this “Kairo” after having the same problem for 2 days (when I thought I didn’t need it since it was weekend).

It seems that I’d have to add another item on my shopping list for my next visit to Japan.
