Ball
There was an incoming messages from one of my colleagues. It was about the ball (where well dressed-up people dance in a rather formal way), taking place in “Rathaus” (meaning city administrative office in German). She happened to obtain a pair of tickets to the ball, and looking for someone to come with.
Even before I came to Vienna (or before having idea of doing it), I thought it would be very much nice, if I knew how to really dance (by the word “dance”, I mean waltz, etc). At the moment I am seriously thinking about going for a dance lessons (I’ve already found one near the office, starting next weekend). My answer was, of course, positive.
I first have to state that I had never seen a ball nor known how to dance. It started with the “opening”, in which the selected group of people (pairs) dance in a very organized way. It was absolutely gorgeous! Men in black, women in white. It is traditional, but I could feel it would just be lots of fun. I really wished I was one of those men..
After the opening, the others can come to the stage and join. Obviously I thought it would be very much nice if I could. After getting 2-minutes-long instruction how to step in waltz, I realized I probably need more than 2 hours to really get capable of it.
It was not all about the “standard” dance; there was another stage mainly for the so-called “Latin” dance (e.g., tango). Of course, I could do nothing back to enjoy watching how they step and dance.
Eventually I ended up being a wallflower (okay, literally. I was actually already quite happy doing so). Everything was pretty much new to me, and that, of course, made me very much tired after a while (though I still was enjoying it).
Again, it would be much nicer if I could really join. Having come to Vienna does not mean you would be able to dance from the next day. Having seen how it could (and would) bring me, I may be going to think dance as one of my “Ikigai”s.

ha ha!
That’s great that you’ve enjoed the “ball”. There are many styles of ball-dance. At first you’ll learn walz and rumba, then tango, cha-cha-cha,samba, foxtrot etc. Oh yes, you have to learn also Jitterbug. It’s not difficult. Have fun with ball-dance ☆

Oh, yes. I certainly did enjoy the ball. The one lesson segment consist of 11 parts, starting from very basic steps, I assume. Once I’d decide I really enjoy it, I’d most likely go onto the next level.
> Have fun
Danke schön! :-)
